ACHIEVEMENTS

Through collaborative efforts with the SC General Assembly, the SC Department of Revenue, and the SC Secretary of State, the SCCBA has played an integral role in significant achievements for the bingo industry.

  • Charities are able to pay bingo taxes with an organization check or draft rather than by cashiers’ checks.
  • Promoters and charities can contribute equal sum loans to the operation of the bingo; previously, only monies generated by the sale of bingo paper were allowed into the bingo account.
  • $100 promotional tool was allowed by SCDOR for each session.
  • In 2004, when the use of electronic bingo units was threatened, SCCBA was ready with legislation and negotiated with SCDOR to allow the continued use until the laws could be adopted.
  • Effective vouchering system for electronic paper eliminated problems with excessive bingo paper inventories and improper accounting methods.
  • Tax change assured charities of sponsorship money generated through the bingo tax system.
  • Tax change reduced burden for “B” games and brought fairness for taxation of “C” games.
  • Days and times of operation were revised to allow greater options for game.
  • The SCCBA held the first SC bingo trade show in 2004.
